Dubai hosts first solar energy summit

Dubais first Global Solar Leaders Summit will begin with GulfSol 2015, a three-day event which will highlight solar technology and the region?s plans to implement clean energy solutions


GulfSol provides a platform for industry leaders to showcase the very latest solar thermal and photovoltaic technologies available in the region.

The event, which is sponsored by Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA), will take place on 14 September 2015 in Dubai, UAE.

Jordan?s minister of energy and mineral resources, Dr Ibrahim Saif, will address the reform of the Jordans energy sector.

According to event organisers, this will be followed by a keynote from his excellency AbidSher Ali, Pakistan?s minister of state for water and power, titled ?Towards a sustainable energy future?.Dr. Mater Al Neyadi, undersecretary at the UAE Ministry of Energy, will also speak about the UAE?s plans for renewable energy.

?Renewable energy is a key strategic objective for DEWA, which is working to expand the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park to generate 2,600MW from renewable energy by 2030,? said Saeed Mohammed Al-Tayer, managing director and chief operating officer on the UAE?s mission to deliver utilities scale solar power.

The afternoon panel session under the heading ?Harnessing the potential of rooftop solutions? will take place after a discussion on DEWA?s first rooftop solar scheme. A discussion based on the key indicators needed when trying to attract investments for solar schemes will also follow.
