Scott Safety has launched a new welding headtop that provides facial and respiratory protection for professionals in the welding industry

The FH4 welding headtop provides advanced protection from flash burn, ultraviolet light, sparks, infrared light and extreme heat caused by a wide variety of welding applications, company officials said.

The device is compatible with Scott Safety Proflow 160 and Tornado-powered respirators, both of which are available with particulate, gas and combination filters.

The fully adjustable ratchet headgear mechanism ensures an optimal fit with an ergonomic comfort pad that sits just below the occipital bone. The device is fitted with soft, pliable materials that fit the contours of the face, enhancing comfort for heavy work when worn for extended periods of time, added the equipment manufacturer.

In addition, the head cradle can be flipped up the visor after welding. The visor can be securely locked in an upright position and easily pulled down in one simple movement.

The headtop even has auto darkening filters (ADFs) which allow the wearer to set the extent of shade they would like to work with. Scott safety said that there is no need to replace the battery in the ADF filter, resulting in lesser downtime and increased productivity. The polycarbonate spatter lens are replacable and designed to minimise costs.
