Dubai Metro to open new station

A new metro station in Dubai is set to begin operations on the Red Line by end-September 2013

According to a report from the Emirates News Agency, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced its plan to open the station to serve Dubai and the surrounding area.

The Red Line of Dubai Metro starts from Jebel Ali and ends in the al Rashidiya area.

RTA director of rail operation Mohammed Yousef al Mudharreb said that more than 2,500 passengers will be expected to use the new station every day.

Al Mudharred explained that a plan has been established which guarantees the provision of bus services to and from the station and its surrounding areas, which will encourage the public to use the station.

The RTA added that the schedule of the Red Line will be changed, so the peak hour will begin at 06:30 instead of 07:00 during weekdays. Peak hours on the Green Line will also be adjusted to run from 07:00 to 09:30.
