Oman?s leading telecoms provider Omantel replaces and expands national power park with John Deere-powered SDMO generator sets

Within a framework contract signed in March 2016, SDMO Industries has supplied 252 John Deere-powered generator sets to Omantel, Oman?s first and leading integrated telecommunications provider. The order replaces and expands Omantel?s power park of SDMO J-33 generator sets, and underscores its continued confidence in the manufacturer?s reliable, cost-effective power solutions tailored to the Omani telecommunications sector.

Omantel opted for the same J33 33-kVA (26kWe) 50Hz model generator sets for their proven low cost of ownership and reliability. The prime power units will provide electricity to Omantel?s telecom cell towers and shelters, and are fitted with a 12V charge alternator and starter, and a John Deere 12V 30kW 2.9L bare engine.

SDMO Industries equipped the generator sets for conditions in Oman, including a radiator for 48/50?C core temperature and a Telys control panel providing more realtime performance data, such as revolutions per minute and battery voltage. Reliable in the toughest conditions, the John Deere engine offers great fuel economy, ease of maintenance and robust features such as wet-type cylinder liners, forged-steel connecting rods and sealed water pumps.

Omantel is committed to delivering unmatched communications experience nationwide, even in remote areas. To deliver on this promise, Omantel works with partners such as SDMO Industries who share their collaborative and innovative spirit, understand their challenges and have the expertise to meet the company?s specific needs.
