Solar plant being planned in Yanbu Industrial City

A 50MW solar plant is being planned in the Yanbu Industrial City under the patronage of the Royal Commission and King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy

A feasibility study on the construction and operation of the plant will be carried, for which a cooperation agreement was signed at the headquarters of the Royal Commission in Riyadh between the CEO Alaa Nassif and King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy vice-president Waled Husain Abulfaraj.

The two parties have assessed the current and future situation of the Yanbu Industrial City and have identified its growing need for sustainable energy, and will deploy the latest research and technology in clean energy generation.

The Royal Commission will develop the future plans for renewable energy of the city, and provide the necessary land lots. King Abdullah City for Atomic & Renewable Energy (KACARE) will prepare a draft scope of work of the project, and establish rules and regulations for linking the renewable energy plants with the electricity grid. KACARE will provide the Royal Commission with recommendations on the technologies used in solar energy.
