Qatar HLG Dubai reservoirDubai-based Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) has won a US$68mn contract to construct reservoirs in Qatar

As part of the deal HLG, operating as Leighton Contracting Qatar WLL, will build additional reservoirs at Al Duhail and Umm Qarn Reservoir and Pumping Stations (RPS) for the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA).

HLG, will be responsible for the construction of nine new 22.7mn litre reservoirs at Umm Qarn and one 94.6mn litre reservoir at Al Duhail, along with pipe works, associated mechanical, electrical and plumbing and instrumentation works, road works and landscaping.

This is the fourth project awarded to HLG by KAHRAMAA.

The group was awarded the original US$210mn contract for the construction of the Duhail and Umm Qarn Reservoirs in 2009.

HLG chief executive officer and managing director, Laurie Voyer, said the new project aligns with the group’s strategy of securing repeat business from existing clients.

“We have placed considerable effort into securing repeat work for reputable clients. Qatar is a key market for us,” said Voyer.

The new project will commence immediately and is scheduled for completion within 12 months.
