Metito wins contract for ZADCO desalination project

Metito has been awarded a US$5.7mn contract by Abu Dhabi?s Zakum Development Company (ZADCO) to provide water treatment solutions and oversee the operations and maintenance of its upcoming desalination project on Zirku Island

Zirku Island has been designated as an industrial base for processing, storing and exporting oil from Abu Dhabi National Oil Company?s (ADNOC) Upper Zakum, Umm Al-Dalkh and Satah oilfields. ZADCO has overseen the development of the Upper Zakum oil fields.

According to a statement by the water solutions provider, it will provide containerised water to the Zirku Island to produce potable water through seawater desalination. Metito will supervise the construction, testing and commissioning of the desalination project and oversee its operations and maintenance for a six-month period.

Metito general manager Omar Zoubi said, ?Metito is thrilled to conduct its first business agreement with ZADCO. We look forward to building a long-term business relationship with them.?
