HLG wins contract worth US$168mn for Dubai Expo village project

Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) has awarded a contract worth US$168mn to HLG Contracting for the construction of Expo village parcels 10 and 11 residential towers as part of the preparations for Expo 2020 Dubai

As per the deal, HLG will be responsible for the construction of five 16-storey residential towers and for the development with a total built-up area of 155,000 sq m.

As reported by Trade Arabia, three of these towers will be co-joined through a mutual three-storey podium and the other two towers will also be co-joined together through another shared three-storey podium.

According to the sources, the scope of HLG?s work includes concrete frames, masonry, facades, fit-out, external works and provisional sums for the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems.

In addition, the project will also include setting up of wardrobes, kitchens, timber doors, lifts and facade cleaning system, according to HLG.

In a statement, HLG said that the construction work for the project is expected to start in July 2017, and is scheduled to be completed by the middle of 2019.

The company explained that it focuses on ensuring the completion of the project in time to host guests and participants across various countries in the world participating in Expo 2020 Dubai, which will open in October 2020.
