MAN Diesel & Turbo has received an EPC-contract to build a 40MW oil fired power plant for the Arabian Cement Company (ACC) in Saudi Arabia

The plant will provide power to a cement factory in Rabigh, around 120 km north of Jeddah, off the Red Sea coast. The plant will be equipped with MAN two type 18V48/60 TS engines, which offer two-stage turbocharging, and will be operated by heavy fuel oil (HFO) and diesel oil (DO). According to the company, the two-stage engine delivers extra power, greater power density and increased turbocharging efficiency compared to engines with a single turbocharger.

Under the engineering, procurement and construction contract, MAN Diesel & Turbo will undertake the construction of the entire plant. Construction of the first phase of the power plant is scheduled for 2016/17. In the next two phases of construction, the plant?s capacity will be increased to a total of 120MW by the installation of a further four engines.

?MAN Diesel & Turbo has been a reliable partner of ours for many years. In addition to a high level of professionalism and the quality of the engines, we appreciate the company?s flexibility and capacity for innovation which enables it to implement even complex customer requirements,? said Arabian Cement Company president and CEO Gasem Al Maimani.

MAN Diesel & Turbo senior sales director power plants for Saudi Arabia Ashraf Al Natsheh has commented that this order marks a milestone in the development of the company?s EPC business in Saudi Arabia.
