484 MW gas power unit inaugurated in Iran

Iran has announced that a gas burning unit of a combined cycle power plant with a generation capacity of 484 MW has reportedly been inaugurated in Yazd

The project was completed at a cost of approximately US$49mn.

Deputy energy minister Mohammad Behzad said the value of Iran?s electricity exports was projected to exceed US$1bn by the end of March 2013, adding that since last year, Iran has exported more than 9.2 GWh of electricity to neighbouring countries.

The Iranian energy ministry plans to increase the country?s electricity generation capacity by 5 GW this calendar year.

Energy minister Majid Namjou said, "By the end of the fifth five-year economic development plan (March 2015), Iran will have boosted its electricity generation capacity by 25 GW to reach the target of 73 GW."
