Ansaldo Energia wins contract to build Algeria power plant

Ansaldo Energia, a subsidiary of Finmeccanica, has announced that it has been awarded a contract worth an estimated total of US$388mn

The Italian power engineering company, which is headquartered in Genova, sealed the deal with Sonelgaz group company, Societe Algerienne De Production De L?Electricite (SPE Spa) for the plant to be built in the Algerian town of M'Sila. 

Ansaldo Energia, ?will supply the Hassi Messaoud open cycle power plant, with a total rated output of more than 660 MW,? the company stated.

The plant contains three generating sets with three Ansaldo Energia gas turbines (model AE 94.3A) and alternators.

Ansaldo Energia?s cooperation with Sonelgaz, one of the key development partners in Algeria?s strategic electric power production plan has been further reinforced through the project, it said.

A leading company in the supply of thermoelectric power plants, Ansaldo Energia's was awarded two gas turbine contracts last month, worth a total US$466mn.
