Siemens signs gas turbine deal with DEWA

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has entered into a long-term agreement with Siemens International for maintenance of gas turbines at M-Station in Jebel Ali

Siemens will provide manpower, equipment, tools, spare parts for six V94.3A gas turbines and six power generators at the power station as part of the multi-million dollar contract.

"This contract will greatly contribute to achieving the highest levels of operational availability and reliability, especially during the summer months," said DEWA MD and CEO HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer.

"Furthermore, it will reduce the manpower required for performing maintenance of these gas turbines and generators, and it will have a positive impact on the environment by enhancing efficiency and subsequently reduce gas emissions."

Al Tayer revealed that the total cost of the contract stood at US$561.6mn and that it would run for a period of between 12 to 15 years.
