The Regulation and Supervision Bureau - Abu Dhabi (RSB) and the Emirates Wildlife Society, in association with WWF (EWS-WWF), have announced that they are working together on phase two of the countrys Ecological Footprint Initiative
The initiative will focus on the development of energy efficiency standards for residential lighting in the UAE, with assessments also made on energy and water usage.
Nick Carter, director general of RSB, said, "We are pleased to be supporting EWS-WWF in its work on the Ecological Footprint Initiative.
"By working on other initiatives such as water-wise and power-wise, we understand it is crucial to look at energy and water conservation as a vehicle to reduce carbon emissions and we believe the initiative will have a lasting impact in building a sustainable future for the UAE," he added.
Ida Tillisch, acting director general of EWS-WWF, commented, "The initiative aims to help decision-makers prioritise policies that reduce the carbon footprint and benefit the economy."
