Dubai plans to reduce energy imports and climate warming carbon dioxide emissions by 30 per cent by 2030.

Dubai is poised to unveil a big solar power plant as part of a push to get five per cent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030, Saeed Mohammed Al-Tayer, vice chairman of Dubais Supreme Council of Energy, said.

A total of nine international companies and consortia have been shortlisted to build some of Syrias first wind farms as part of the government efforts to encourage foreign investment in the power-generation sector.

Torresol Energy, a joint venture between Masdar, Abu Dhabis leading future energy company, and SENER, the leading Spanish engineering and construction firm, recently announced the commissioning of its flagship 19.9MW Gemasolar Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plant in Seville, Spain.
