Doha Metro tenders delayed until Q2 2012

Doha Metro Tenders have been delayed for the second time and will now be issued in April or May of this year.

Tenders for the Doha Metro have been delayed for the second time and will now be issued in April or May of this year, the Qatar Railways Cos group director, Ghanim Al-Ibrahim, was reported as saying by Reuters.

Delayed second time

Qatar Railways, which had originally planned to issue the first tender by the end of 2011, said last October that it had received bids from around 60 consortiums with at least two contractors each.

But the company delayed the tenders until the first quarter of 2012 in order to complete more detailed studies on the project.

US$41 billion project

The project will cost US$41 billion and will include four rail lines linking stadiums for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final which is taking place in Qatar, with an underground component in the centre of the capital, Doha.
