The Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai has introduced a new rule giving permission to business owners in the emirate to operate across the industrial, commercial and professional services sectors with a single licence

Until now, business owners in Dubai had to operate with separate licences in each of these fields.

According to Gulf News, the DED director of registration department, Ahmad Ebrahim, said this new rule would be aimed at simplifying procedures for setting up a business, reducing costs for owners and aid with their expansion in Dubai.

?There are around 11,800 industrial licences in Dubai that can benefit from this new decision, which allows people to engage in commercial and professional activities from one location,? stated Ebrahim.

DED chief executive officer for business registration and licensing, Mohammad Shael Al Sa?adi, said business owners have to sign a memorandum of association and pay a minimal fee for additional licences for activities apart from industrial, commercial and professional services.
