Dubai to open world's first temperature-controlled city

Plans for the worlds first temperature-controlled city, Mall of the World, have been launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai

Spread across a total area of 44.5mn sq m, the project is being managed by global investment company Dubai Holding and will be located on Sheikh Zayed Road.

Mall of the World will also comprise of the world?s largest indoor theme park and shopping mall, stated reports. The shopping centre, spread across nearly 743,000 sq m, would be connected to 100 hotels and serviced apartment buildings with 20,000 hotel rooms. Officials from Dubai Holding added that there will be a temperature-controlled covered retail street network spreading over seven kilometres.

Once completed, the mall will be able to cater to 180mn visitors annually, added Dubai Holding authorities.

Sheikh Mohammed said, ?This project complements our plans to transform Dubai into a cultural, tourist and economic hub for the two billion people living in the region around us; and we are determined to achieve our vision.?

The project would also house a wellness zone and a cultural celebration district.
