Saudi Arabia launches development projects worth US$1.3bn

The Saudi Arabian government has announced development projects worth US$1.3bn in the health, education, cultural and services sectors in Madinah

The announcement was made by Saudi Arabia?s King Salman during his second official visit to Madinah since his ascension to the throne.

There is an increasing focus on the power sector development in Madinah. The monarch unveiled new services projects worth US$266mn. Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) will set up a new plant in downtown Madinah. Plans to revamp existing plants in Uhud and other plants have also been announced.

The Saudi Arabia King also launched a number of projects focusing on the health, education and cultural sectors. He allocated US$185mn for development of key facilities at Taibah University.

Around US$225mn have also been provided to upgrade the Islamic University in Madinah that includes sports halls, staff housing, science laboratories, car parks and other buildings.
