24 October 2016 marks the opening day of the four-day event hosted by Honeywell at the World Forum Convention Centre
The media were treated to a demonstration tour of the Honeywell User Groups (HUG) Knowledge Centre, where the latest products in the Honeywell range were being showcased, with experts explaining the new and exciting detail of each product.
The first of three general sessions was opened on Tuesday 25 October by the Honeywell User Group Chairperson Jose-Maria Martin of BP and Monica Martinez-Gonzalez of REPSOL. President of Honeywell Process Solutions, Vimal Kapur gave guests of the HUG an overlook for Honeywell?s challenges and solutions for the years to come. There was a focus on six key areas that customers have contacted the HUG about and how Honeywell plans to overcome this. These areas were reducing project CAPEX, reaching production levels, sustain plant performance, a seamless supply chain, safety and skills.
Kapur sees these customer challenges as very much being Honeywell?s challenges to overcome. He particularly saw the seamless supply chain as a challenge that Honeywell had overcome with the introduction of their website www.honeywellprocess.com/buynow, which now has more than 600 products for repairs and spares for existing and legacy Honeywell products. The unique selling point for the site is that a company can cater a level of access for every one of their staff members, so that engineers can choose or save the part that they need, and buyers can take that information and purchase it on their behalf, and send it around the world. This cuts errors and saves time.
In addition, Honeywell are keen to cement the idea of a connected plant to its clients. Kapur stated that ?our customers have a connected work life were everything is completed online, a connected personal life were one mobile device now does the job of ten devices. But the plant is still not connected.? To combat this, Honeywell Process Solutions have released a number of new products that talk wirelessly to each other, and deliver data faster and to the people that need it.
