Komatsu and Topcon present Technology Days in Dubai

With the focus on strong synergy to benefit customers, Komatsu and Topcon joined forces to host the Technology days event on 5 December 2018, bringing to the audience the latest innovations in construction and site management

The event organised on a realistic construction site provided demonstrations and simulation of earthmoving processes, providing insights into how state-of-the-art technology can optimise productivity and workflow.

The day began with an introduction by Ashraf Hashish, GM Marketing, Komatsu Middle East FZE.

Speaking about Topcon's construction solutions, Carsten Frantzen, Senior Director Construction EMEA, Topcon Positioning Group, emphasised how the company helps connect all aspects from breaking ground to final inspection, giving customers the tools for better efficiency, improved accuracy, reducing operational cost as well as better management of data, machines and crew.

Frantzen added, "The willingness of the UAE to adopt cutting edge technology is very encouraging."

He also spoke about Topcon's efforts to invest in a lot of training and awareness creation about automation and technology in its line of business including the construction and agriculture industries.

Other than coastal engineering, water management and construction in other fields including agriculture are also a developing market in the Middle East. Topcon Agriculture as part of the Positioning Group is focussed on high precision farming and here especially to develop new Ag areas to feed the fast-growing population.

Dr Matthias Sausen, Business Development Manager for Topcon Positioning Group, opined, "Machine control is a major aspect in the analysis of the harvest time and also for various other stages including the sowing of seeds and use of pesticides."

The attendees at the event included government officials, airport authorities and professionals in the mining and construction sectors. The following were demonstrated at the event - PC220LC-8M0 Hydraulic Excavator with Topcon machine control, D155A-6R Bulldozer with Topcon 3DMC2 machine control and the GD755-5R Motor Grader with Topcon 3DMC2 machine control. The fourth area was for Sitelink3D software and Komatsu?s Komtrax.
