Electrical engineering company Phoenix Contact is set to participate with new launches at the upcoming 41st edition of Middle East Electricity (MEE) at Dubai World Trade Centre from 1-3 March 2016
An estimated US$416bn is required to meet the growing requirements of power consumption in the MENA region during the 2016-20 period, according to a study conducted by Saudi Arabia-based Arab Petroleum Investment Corporation (Apicorp). Further, the total required capacity by 2020 for the MENA region, according to MEED Insights? MENA Power Project Markets 2015, is 420,335MW. Presently, the installed capacity clocks in at 276,117MW for the region.
Phoenix Contact said that it will be displaying a wide range of first-class products and new innovations in the field of electrical connection technology, electronic interface, automation systems as well as solutions for the energy, infrastructure, and process industries at the event.
?We hope to network and make inroads through our participation at MEE 2016,? said Dania Liswi, marketing communications manager, Phoenix Contact Middle East.
Among the new products that Phoenix Contact will display are the safe energy control (SEC) technology and the DC UPS solution. The SEC provides durable and powerful lightning and surge protection and at its core is the revolutionary spark gap which safely prevents any line follow current. The SEC innovation protects systems, including fuses and arresters and, therefore, making a separate arrester backup fuse redundant in all common applications.
The DC UPS solution ensures maximum usability of plants and systems. It also features various storage media that offer a wide range of different properties including long service life or long buffer time, use at extreme ambient temperatures, and no maintenance.
The estimated 34 per cent increase in demand for power consumption by 2020 provides opportunities for suppliers in the power sector, who will be able to gather more information and insight of these opportunities at the MEE 2016.
The 2015 edition of MEE attracted over 1,400 exhibitors from over 60 countries, and over 20,000 visitors from over 120 countries.
