SwitchDin to drive solar, batteries and utilities at 24th World Energy Congress

solar penetrationAustralia’s leading provider of virtual power plant (VPP) and microgrid software for utilities SwitchDin will feature at the 24th World Energy Congress in Abu Dhabi from 9-12 September as a major guest of the German Energy Agency (dena)

SwitchDin is taking its distributed energy (DER) management technology to a broader, international audience as a Startup Energy Transition (#SET100) member.

“SwitchDin is set to accelerate the value that integration and orchestration of DER can bring to the electricity sector and consumers,” said SwitchDin CEO Dr Andrew Mears.

“We are excited to introduce our technology and explore new opportunities for its deployment with forward-thinking energy companies and manufacturers outside Australia through our discussions at WEC24.”

Dr Mears will present about SwitchDin on the second day of the conference (10 September) at the SET ‘Smart Devices and Storage’ pitch session.

As a consequence of the high penetration of solar and cost of grid electricity, Australia is the DER testbed for the rest of the world, giving rise to innovative electricity service models driving the modernisation of the electricity grid.

Many of these have been designed to find solutions to pressing issues in challenging ‘fringe of grid’ environments, leveraging small-scale energy assets to manage network demand while allowing more solar PV on the grid.

In April 2019, SwitchDin was recognised as one of the top 100 global energy startups (#SET100) and one of fewer than 20 in the ‘Intelligent Grids, Platforms & Cyber Security’ category by dena in the World Energy Council’s Startup Energy Transition programme.

SwitchDin enters the European market with the first shipment of residential battery storage package.
