Prysmian Group has supplied around 500km of FP fire resistant-cables for Louvre Abu Dhabi, aiming to ensure better operating condition for emergency teams
Coupled with low flame spread and low emission of smoke and dangerous gases during fire outbreak, the fire-resistant cables aims to provide extended fire survival times, thus allowing the guests longer time to evacuate the building.
In addition, the fire-resistant cables also act by ensuring power supply and fire alarm system in the event of a fire.
According to the company, the cables were supplied to various electrical contractors on the project by Awazi-Gargash in Dubai between 2014 and 2017. Basti, general manager of Awazi-Gargash, commented that the Prysmian Group?s fire-resistant cables ensure safety in complex buildings, thereby protecting people and the works of art in the buildings.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi was open to the public on 11 November 2017. Designed by Jean Nouvel, the museum is the largest one in the Arabian Peninsula. The building consists of 55 white buildings, including 23 galleries, a temporary exhibition space, a children?s museum, a 200-seater-auditorium, a restaurant, a caf? and retail.
Stressing on the need to protect the museum?s art works and life of people during a fire event, Antonio Chiantore, general manager Prysmian Middle East, said that the cables play a crucial role in building safety. According to him, the product has met the highest standards of product safety and aims to provide quality functioning ability.
