Batelco signs MOU with Korea Telecom for Smart Cities services

Batelco has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Telecom to explore projects targeting Smart Cities services in Bahrain.

Batelco has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Telecom to explore projects targeting Smart Cities services in Bahrain under which both companies will be working on exploring services such as smart economy, smart mobility, smart environment, smart living and smart governance.

Batelco's Bahrain chief executive, Rashid Abdulla, said that the company was very pleased to join forces with a global leader such as Korea Telecom to explore Smart Cities services for the kingdom.

State-of-the-art communication

The agreement will benefit Batelco by enhancing the company's competitiveness in the marketplace by exploring innovative Smart Cities solutions utilising the state-of-the-art communication infrastructure which Batelco has invested in over many years.

"The South Korean firm is a very well known name in this field with a proven record in delivering Smart Cities services in other locations and we are delighted to have the opportunity to benefit from their expertise and know-how to support our goals," he said.

Korea Telecom executive vice-president and head of global enterprise sales department Sang Wook Kim added, "We also look forward to delivering our experience and knowledge in the domain of Smart Cities to support Batelco's efforts in exploring innovative services which will ultimately benefit the whole of Bahrain."
