Jordan most active ICT market in MENA region, reveals Ericsson report

Swedish telecom major Ericsson has released a report which stated that Jordan has the most active ICT market in the MENA region

At Ericsson?s training seminar titled ?The Networked Seminar? held in Amman, ICT industry leaders stated that Jordan was ahead of its Middle East counterparts in the field of providing the latest ICT services.

Tareq Saadi, regional manager of northern Middle East at Ericsson, said that the report showed that Jordan was among 11 countries in MENA in the highest rates of ICT services, constituting 4.6 per cent of the total GDP compared with the regional rate of 3.5 per cent.

According to Saadi, around seven per cent of Jordan?s population work in the ICT sector, whereas the regional rate does not exceed four per cent. The country?s Telecommunications Regulatory Commission stated that the numbers of Internet users in the country was expected to increase. It has already reached 5.3mn users, which is approximately 73 per cent of the total of Jordan?s population.

In the coming months, companies will be likely to invest in Jordan to attract the most modern technologies such as 4G LTE networks, added the report.
