Dubai airport traffic increases in July

Dubai International Airport

Passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport jumped 9.7 per cent to a monthly record of 4.7mn in July, Dubai Airports said.

The figure eclipsed a previous high of 4.3 million reached in July 2010. Year-to-date traffic jumped nine per cent compared to the same period in 2010, reaching 29,291,927 in July.

Year-to-date aircraft movements rose 6.8 per cent to 317,664. In the first half of the year, passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport rose 8.9 per cent despite high fuel costs and increased economic uncertainty over the global economic recovery.

Dubai Airport owns and manages the operation and development of both of Dubai's airports, Dubai International and Dubai World Central, which will eventually become the world's largest airport with a capacity of 160mn passengers and 12mn tonnes of cargo per year.
