Qatar Airways has announced that it will operate flights three times a week to Djibouti from July 2014

An Airbus A320, which has 12 business class seats and 132 economy class seats, will fly between Doha and Djibouti non-stop, Qatar Airways said.

Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways, said, ?Djibouti is another example of Qatar Airways? commitment to opening up access to destinations that are largely underserved by international airlines and have great market potential.?

Djibouti is located in the Horn of Africa and is bordered by Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia. The economy is largely concentrated in the service sector but the country has limited access to international air services, Qatar Airways said.

Last September, Qatar Airways launched tri-weekly flights to Ethiopia. According to the company, destinations in this region of the African continent have great potential, linking to key feeders in the Middle East, Europe, Asia and other parts of the world.
