UPS will provide logistics support to Expo 2020 Dubai

UPS has joined hands to deliver logistics operations in the Expo 2020 Dubai that will be held from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021, expecting millions of visitors across the world

UPS, the global leader in logistics solutions, will handle logistics operations in Expo 2020 Dubai, the first ever World Expo in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) region. Expo 2020 Dubai will be one of the most complex logistics projects of UPS as more than 180 countries are anticipated to take part with millions of visitors on the peak days.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of the Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee, and Jean-Francois Condamine, UPS?s president of the Indian sub-continent, Middle East and Africa have signed the official partnership agreement. As per the agreement, UPS will provide more than 27,000 square meters of warehouse spaces that are similar to four soccer fields and with a team of 1,000 employees during the time of Expo.

Referring to the Expo 2020 Dubai theme of ?Connecting Minds, Creating the Future?, HE Reem Al Hashimy, UAE minister of state for International Cooperation and director general, Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau, said, ?UPS will play a key role ? not only during Expo 2020 Dubai but long after the doors close in 2021.?

UPS, working in the region since 1989, will help establish Dubai as global hub of transportation for commerce and business, connecting trade form the Middle East to China, Africa, Europe, and the US. The previous UPS?s expertise as logistics sponsor include delivering logistics support to the 2012 Olympic Games in London and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

David Abney, global CEO of UPS, said, ?We plan to expand UPS?s presence in the region by establishing capacity, technology and staff capabilities to serve customers shipping to and through Dubai, long after the Expo concludes.?

?UPS will provide a next generation network that is smart, efficient and integrated. We share a vision of what the logistics of tomorrow will look like,? he added.

Apart form UPS, the other Expo 2020 partnerships include Emirates Airlines, SAP, Etisalat, DP World, and others.
