Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) has leased land to Topaz Marine Engineering Division (TMED) to establish a ship repair facility at Free Port, UAE

According to the contract, ADPC will lease the berth and adjacent area of land at the Free Port to TMED. In turn, TMED will provide the floating dock necessary for repairs works. The companies are building the ship repair facility as part of a one-year contract with an option to extend it to up to three years.

The company said in a statement that the ship repair facility will be set up to provide support to vessels operating within or passing through Abu Dhabi waters. The facility will also provide support to UAE?s marine sector.

?The new ship repair facility completes our offerings in the Free Port and will significantly facilitate trade. The location of the facility is ideal as it is close to Abu Dhabi?s main shipping channel and offers quick turnaround times,? said Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of ADPC.

TMED will employ more than 150 professionals to conduct an array of repairs, including workshop, fuel injection, marine automation, instrumentation, hydraulic and boiler services.
