Al Ghurair Group has opened up a new aluminium fabrication plant in Jebel Ali, Dubai, which will initially supply sun roof tops for automobile manufacturers such as Land Rover, Nissan and Hyundai

Al Ghurair Group?s subsidiary, Royal Engineering Fabrication Company (REFCO) is expected to produce about 3,000 parts per day at this plant, and more than 1.3mn parts per annum, Gulf News reported. All of produce will initially be exported.

The company has estimated earnings of about US$4.05mn by the end of 2013 from the new manufacturing facility at Jebel Ali. It has targeted earnings of about US$17.56mn for 2014, according to company sources. REFCO will receive raw materials for this plant from Gulf Extrusion, a unit of Al Ghurair Group that manufactures extruded aluminium products.

The group?s chief executive officer Majid Al Ghurair said, ?We are looking to increase production capacity at this facility by five times in the future. The plant is expected to create value for the downstream aluminium sector, and will play a vital role in encouraging industries to come up with locally manufactured products.?

The diversified group also has plans to set up a new aluminium extrusion plant in Abu Dhabi by 2015, which is expected to have an annual production capacity of 25,000 tonnes, Gulf News reported.

?The new facility would produce extruded aluminium for architectural sections, air-conditioning grilles, furniture, for marine applications, transportation and automotives,? said Majid Al Ghurair.
