Dubai Oman Aluminium Rolling Company has awarded a US$385mn contract to an Italian company to build a production plant with a 160,000 tonne capacity.
The contract was awarded to Fata EPC, a Turin-based EPC company, who expects production at the aluminium rolling plant to start in August 2013.
The deal will see create jobs for the local economy and when the facility is up and running it will generate 275 jobs.
Fata EPC is focusing heavily on the GCC market and is looking at establishing a permanent presence in the region with plans to open offices in Abu Dhabi, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
As Anthony Tropeano, chief executive of Fata EPC was quoted as saying by Gulf News: ?We are looking at business opportunities all over the region, not only in aluminium but also steel and oil and gas projects.?
