The crusher and screens manufacturing company Powerscreen is looking to Saudi Arabia for new partnerships in anticipation of business opening up in the Middle Eastern construction industry

The GCC is set to experience a boost in its quarrying and recycling industries particularly in Saudi Arabia as well as Oman, Qatar and the UAE, according to Rajen Khoda, Powerscreen director of sales for the Middle East.

Khoda said, ?In the near future we expect to see Saudi Arabia with the biggest growth due to general investments in infrastructure all around the country.?

He added, ?We are working to establish distributors in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait and other Middle East countries.?

Furthermore with a distribution network already established in Qatar and the UAE, the company is keen to strengthen these ties and is optimistic about the demand that both the 2022 World Cup and 2020 World Expo will generate.

Khoda explained, ?With Dubai winning the bid for the Expo2020 the construction industry as a whole is expected to gain, as an estimated 30 per cent of the jobs will be created in the construction industry.?

Looking at business globally, 2013 was a tough year for Powerscreen but the Middle East and north Africa stood out as an area of opportunity, which explains the company?s planned investment and focus in the region.

?We have seen new opportunities in Africa and parts of the Middle East have remained strong,? said Khoda. ?Oman and Qatar have see growth. There has been demand for both crushing and screening Powerscreen equipment in Oman and we continue to hold the largest market share in the country.?

Powerscreen has also taken confidence from the fact that the UAE government announced that existing construction projects will be fast-tracked in order to be ready by 2020.
