Sinoma wins US$188 million Mecca cement project

Saudi Arabian-based Southern Province Cement Company (SPCC) has awarded China?s Sinoma International Engineering Company a US$188 million contract to install a third production line at its Tahama plant in Mecca province

The project will be completed on a lump-sum turnkey basis and is scheduled to be installed over a 24-month period. SPCC has said that it would use its own funds to finance the new production line.

The third production line will increase clinker capacity by 5,000 tonnes a day (t/d). The Tahama plant currently has two production lines in operation, with a total capacity of 23,000 t/d.

SPCC has two other cement plants in Saudi Arabia located in?Jazan and Bisha.
