ABB, the global provider of electrification products, robotics and motion, has introduced new PVS-100/120 range of cloud connected, three-phase string inverter solutions for decentralised photovoltaic systems

As the solar market shifts towards new cost-effective platforms offering extreme high-power string inverters from 1,000 VDC up to 1,500 VDC, ABB PVS-100/120 platform aims to maximise the ROI and reduce CAPEX and OPEX costs for installers and developers.

According to the company, the PVS-100/120 can be used in both large-scale commercial and industrial ground mounted and rooftop applications. It provides a six-in-one, sun-to-socket solution, which aims to deliver flexibility and proactive plant management, said the company.

Marco Trova, global product manager for string utility at ABB, said that the new PVS-100/120 string inverter range interacts with the solar plant system through high-power consolidation of physical parts and products along with digitalisation.

The features also include:

? About 50 per cent reduction in installation and logistics costs to complete the optimal power block.

? An improved user experience with installation, utilising the existing module?s mounting structure to install the inverter and therefore saving time and costs on logistics, training and site preparation.

? Secure access via a cover key, PV quick connectors and configuration via Wi-Fi to eliminate the risk of water ingress and reduce the installation time for cabling, fuse and SPD checks.

? Proactive control and management of the solar plant through ABB Ability? with remote monitoring capabilities, parameter setting and firmware (FW) updates to improve operational cost efficiencies with reduced plant complexity.

? Component temperature control combined with the horizontal and vertical mounting and fan speed modulation, to increase the lifetime of the inverters.

Marco added that the PVS-100/120 inverter range is already being installed on projects across the globe as more and more solar plants combine hardware with software solutions to realise the cost saving potential and flexibility for high power inverters.
