AEG Power Solutions announced that it has been selected to provide UPS systems to secure power supply for the Duqm major refinery plant in Oman

The project involves the development of facilities for storage and export of refined products and dry bulk products. Duqm refinery is planned to process 230,000 barrels per day (BPSD) of crude oil and is located on the east coast of Oman in the Al Wusta region, approximately 600km south of Muscat city and 560km north-east of Salalah.

The main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for this off-site facilities project in Oman is a joint venture between Saipem SpA and CB&I Europe BV. Saipem has chosen AEG Power Solutions to provide the complete power supply solution, consisting of both AC and DC UPS systems with the related back-up batteries.

Saipem selected a combination of AEG Power Solutions' Protect 8 UPS and Protect RCS Battery Chargers which have proven track records in securing power for critical industrial applications in harsh environments. AEG Power Solutions will provide customised by-pass panels, as well as Ni-Cd batteries and molded case circuit breakers for battery protection.

AEG Power Solutions, through its Italian affiliate, 3W Power SpA, provided its power supply expertise to Saipem during the technical project analysis and clarification, helping to finalise the project.

"The DUQM Refinery upgrade is a major project, and AEG Power Solutions? industrial products are the best choice when looking for a high level of reliability and the capability to operate in a harsh environment,? said Daniela Antenori, global key account manager at AEG Power Solutions.
