Al-Futtaim Engineering has announced it has been awarded a contract to provide heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) works for the Etihad Rail project
Al-Futtaim Engineering?s mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) division was awarded the contract by Saipem, who is the main contractor for the project.
The project will see Al-Futtaim provide HVAC works for depots, track and line side alignment facilities at Mirfah in Abu Dhabi.
Murali Serpakkam, acting managing director of Al-Futtaim Engineering said, ?We are extremely honoured to be awarded this prestigious contract. Once complete, the rail project is expected to significantly boost the economy and we are proud to participate in the development of the country.?
Serpakkam added, ?The Etihad Rail contract underlines Al-Futtaim Engineering?s expertise in major infrastructure projects in the country after having previously successfully delivered the Dubai Metro project and presently executing the Dubai Tram Project.?
Etihad Rail, a joint venture between Abu Dhabi and the federal government, is the developer and operator of the UAE?s national railway network. The 1,200km long network will connect urban and remote communities throughout the country and will also form part of the GCC Railway Network - linking the UAE to Saudi Arabia via Ghweifat in the west and Oman via Al Ain in the east.
