Empower signs US$40mn contract to provide district cooling services to Dubai?s Cityland Mall

The UAE-based Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), one of the largest district cooling services provider across the world, has signed an agreement with Cityland Real Estate Development to provide district cooling services to Cityland Mall in Dubai

The Cityland Mall is located in the Global Village in Dubai and has a total capacity of 14,000 refrigeration tonnes (RT).

As reported by Zawya, the agreement aims to address the increasing demand for district cooling technology in the real estate sector in Dubai.

Empower is set to invest worth US$40mn for this project, said the source, and is scheduled to commission from August 2018.

The agreement was signed by H. H. Sheikh Theyab Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Cityland Group, and Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, at the Cityland Mall Site Office.

With the new agreement, both the companies focus on increasing production capacity in the mall, as well as expanding their portfolio in different projects across the region.

Presently, Empower provides its district cooling services to 1000 buildings ranging from residential, commercial buildings, hospitals, shopping malls, schools and universities. The company has provided service to seven out of 11 iconic buildings in Dubai.
