Iraq and Iran sign US$72mn power generation deal

Iraqi Ministry of Electricity has signed a US$72mn contract with Sunir to build gas-powered power plants in Iraq.

Iraqi Ministry of Electricity has signed a US$72mn contract with Iranian Sunir company to build gas-powered power plants in Iraq, IRNA reported.

Sunir is due to construct two gas-powered units for Dibris power plant in Kirkuk in northern Iraq in order to add 320MW of electricity to its capacity within 14 months.

Further contracts

The ministry further announced that it has signed other contracts worth US$69.8mn dollars with Farab and other Iranian companies. This is to double the power generation capacity of Sadr power plant in Baghdad within 12 months.
