The managing director of Layer Electronics s.r.l., Antonino Culcasi discusses with Technical Review Middle East about the company?s latest products and its future strategies for the Middle East region

Layer Electronics produces and markets a range of electro-technical and electronic support systems for its clientele across the globe.

Culcasi commented, ?In accordance with our stringent goals for development, we are continuing to increase performance. We implemented huge updates to our AC and DC uninterruptible power supply (UPS) as well as inverters, increasingly focused on the industrial and oil and gas markets, with their very stringent specifications.?

?New features include peak current control adjustable from 200-300 per cent of the rated current from three to five seconds; the capability to connect up to four units in multi-master parallel (either distributed or centralised) managed by CAN-bus; mimic flow diagram and event history with time stamp up to 4000 events, now available even for 1-Ph units,? Culcasi mentioned.

In industrial UPS, the Futura series by Layer Electronics is designed to provide absolute security from problems related to mains, whereas, its electronic voltage stabilisers help in stabilising mains fluctuations.

Layer Electronics? latest innovation, the Aton series of bidirectional converters, a project in conjunction with the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche ? National Research Council (CNR) fed by renewable energy is combined with storage facility.

According to the needs, the Aton storage converter is set to work as a grid-connected inverter from a storage system (lead-acid, NiCd, Li-Ion, NaNiCl2); an off-grid inverter from a storage system (lead-acid, NiCd, Li-Ion, NaNiCl2) to supply loads during a blackout (the so-called ?UPS mode?); a Power Factor Correction (PFC) charger from mains to recharge the storage system (lead-acid, NiCd, Li-Ion, NaNiCl2).

Layer Electronics is now in the 10th year of its operations in the Middle East. The company aims to consolidate its presence in the Middle East region and seeks an increased market share. It is also working towards expanding its operations in the America, Africa and Asia markets, having already extended its reach to more than 67 countries.

?In line with the Expo 2020 Dubai, Saudi Arabia?s Vision 2030 and the development plans of various other countries, a further boost for industrial products is expected and Layer Electronics is hopeful of increasing profitability and sales through increased demand,? Culcasi stated.
