SirajPower has signed a solar leasing agreement with Airlink International UAE, a cargo and logistics company, to finance, operate and maintain a 1.3 MWp solar rooftop plant for its logistics centre in JAFZA

The project covers more than 2,000 solar panels that will produce 2.1 GWh of clean energy, and offset nearly 1,500 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions, which is equivalent to a 6,000,000 kilometers drive by an average vehicle passenger approximately.

Airlink has been providing a supply chain solution, which combines international air and ocean freight, with comprehensive value-added logistics and supply chain services, for more than 45 years now. The deal with SirajPower will be Airlink?s first major green undertaking.

Mohammed Abdulghaffar Hussain, chairman of SirajPower, said: ?We are starting the new year on a high note, with a significant partnership between two of the most highly regarded, locally-owned businesses, providing end-to-end services in their respected fields. SirajPower and Airlink International UAE are both committed to offering a holistic experience to their customers, while at the same time making energy consumption more efficient and mitigating climate change impacts. By doing so, we are also contributing to the UAE?s long-term vision for a greener economy, to make the country one of the most sustainable in the world. SirajPower will spare no effort to continue encouraging and helping more local businesses in their transition to clean energy.?

Maitha Juma Saif Bin Bakhit, chairperson of Airlink, said: ?As a leading local company in the travel and logistics industry, we have a duty to support our government?s sustainability objectives. Our country has set ambitious targets, and we firmly believe that large local conglomerates like us can make a difference and accelerate our transition to clean energy. This project marks our key contribution to the UAE and the world for a greener environment as we celebrate our 45th year of operation in the market. We entrusted SirajPower to turn Airlink?s initiative of a sustainable energy-saving and greener footprint feasible.?

Earlier this year, SirajPower reported significant growth, as it doubled its solar assets in 2020, to achieve a 100 MWp distributed solar portfolio. The company currently operates more than 180 solar plants all across the UAE.
