In response to the critical electric power needs of vital applications like hospitals and data centres around the world, Perkins has developed its most powerful and largest full authority electronic, electric power engine range to date

The new 5000 Series engines have been designed and built to deliver the dependable prime or standby power these applications demand in their day-to-day operations.

To help keep downtime to a minimum, this range of inline 6 and 8 cylinder and V12 and V16 cylinder engines has been optimised to meet the generator set manufacturers and packagers? needs for quick, reliable and cost-effective power, while helping keep service and operation costs low.

Purposeful performance

Delivering on the potential for next level electric power performance means maximising the effectiveness of every part, design and capability that goes into the 5000 Series engine range. That?s why, across a power potential from 750 to 2500 kVA, the full authority electronic fuel injection engines are built to world-class standards in efficiency, fuel consumption and global emissions capability.

Through outstanding load acceptance, response and performance, the 5000 Series is capable of providing power more quickly, when called on. Add to that a high power density in a small footprint, delivering optimised fuel and oil consumption, and the 5000 Series is capable of lowering the barrier to implementation and total cost of ownership across applications.

Up to the challenge

Designed, engineered and built to provide dependable power for prime and standby applications including critical infrastructure, the 5000 Series has been thoroughly tested for performance and durability in the harshest environments across more than 10,000 running hours.

Optimised turbochargers help deliver outstanding load acceptance that meets ISO 8528-5 G2 and G3 standards and can accept NFPA 100% block load, enabling the 5000 Series to achieve full recovery after first load step within 13 seconds.

The 5000 Series has also been developed to meet today?s strict and constantly evolving global emissions requirements without sacrificing performance.

Engineered to be equivalent to U.S. EPA Tier 2 emission standards, the 5000 Series engines help futureproof electric power generators through a core engine design that leverages the latest in electronic fuel injectors to reduce exhaust emissions.

The 5000 Series can run with biodiesel up to B20, based on a 20% dilution of biodiesel with standard diesel or on 100% hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) to EN15940 as detailed in the Perkins? 5000 Series Operation and Maintenance Manuals.

It is all part of an effort to keep every engine performing for as long, and as efficiently, as possible.
