UAE funds solar power project in Siwa

The governor of Egypts Matrouh province has announced that a UAE fund has donated close to US$150,000 towards an upcoming 20 MW solar power plant project in Siwa

According to local newspaper The Egypt Independent, the announcement was made by governor Badr Tantawy during the visit of a high-level delegation from the UAE to Siwa.

Tantawy expressed his gratitude to the UAE for extending support to Egypt and revealed that the production in this solar plant would be three times more than province?s current plant capacity, the newspaper reported.

In recent days, UAE firms have been expressing interest in Egypt?s power and energy industry. Earlier in September 2013, UAE-based Masdar said that it was going to invest in a US$580mn wind project in Egypt.
