Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has awarded a contract worth US$35.4mn to extend its water network in order to meet increasing needs for water and building infrastructure

The directives have been laid out by Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to develop Dubai?s position as a golden hub for trade and finance.

DEWA CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said, ?These projects include the 600-1,200mm per diametre extension of glass-reinforced epoxy (GRE) main water pipelines, using the non-destructive road crossing (NDRC) tunnel-digging method to protect the infrastructure and services for major water transmission networks located around the emirate.

The project is expected to be completed within 30 months of its start date. The NDRC network will be launched and fully operational once all extension work has been completed.
