Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched a new water pipeline project worth US$8.1mn in Hatta
The new project, aimed at enhancing Hatta?s infrastructure and meeting the growing demand for its services across the Dubai emirate, includes the planning and laying of new water pipe distribution networks ranging in size from 100mm to 450mm in diameter, and over a total length of 30km.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director of DEWA, said, ?The objective of the Hatta project is to raise the efficiency of water distribution networks in the area and strengthen water supply to meet increasing demand. This will contribute to consolidating Dubai?s position in the region and promote sustainable development.?
Al Tayer added that 10 per cent of the work had been completed so far and the authority planned to deliver water to expanding residential areas in Hatta shortly.
The project in the town, which sits 115km east of Dubai, is expected to be completed within 14 months, according to DEWA.
DEWA has also recently awarded a contract to commission and supply a main supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system for water, which will remotely control all data and monitor the main water network in Dubai.
