Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is working on increasing quantities of water flow to meet growing demand and has spent US$38mn on improving the emirates water infrastructure.
HE Saeed Mohamed Al Tayer, MD & CEO Of DEWA stated: "DEWA has completed extending approximately 154 km of water pipelines of this project, which costs US$37.5mn. This project, which aims to boost the capacity of water distribution networks, started on 4th November, 2009 and it is expected to be completed in November 2012."
Remarkable progress
DEWA has made remarkable progress in carrying out the project of supplying, extending, testing and commissioning water distribution networks with 100 ? 450 mm diameter, and at total lengths of 397 km covering the areas of Al Barsha South, Accademic City, Jumeirah 2, Al Rafa, 3rd Industrial Area at Jebel Ali, Al Wasl, Al Khawaneej, Za'abeel 2, Nad Al Sheba 2, Al Hamriyah, Oud Metha, Al Karamah, Al Rahidiyah, Al Muhaisnah 1st, Ras Al Khor 2nd, and others.
Al Tayer added: "This step is part of DEWA's strategic plan aiming to enhance the operational efficiency of its water networks, support water distribution networks and increase quantities of water flow to meet the ever-increasing demand for water."
