USA?s energy technology firm Energy Recovery has won a US$3.6mn order to install its PX Pressure Exchanger technology in an independent water plant in Qurrayat, Oman
The Qurrayat water plant is a joint project with Singapore?s Hyflux Ltd., said Energy Recovery in a statement. The Omani water plant?s capacity exceeds 50,000 cu/m every day and it produces 200mn litres of freshwater per day. Energy Recovery?s pressure exchanger is expected to help reduce the power consumption by the plant and save nearly 173 GwH per year. These energy savings directly translate to avoiding 100,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
Energy Recovery president and CEO Joel Gay said, ?We have continued to witness momentum in desalination orders throughout 2015. The company is now seeing increasing activity in an improving desalination market. This is the fourth mega project that Energy Recovery has worked on with Hyflux, and we are proud to consistently win larger scale projects from our existing customers. Larger projects are dependent on the timelines of our customers, however we are increasingly optimistic with the direction of the desalination market thus far this year.?
The California-based company develops water saving and energy efficient solutions for the oil and gas, chemical and water industries. The products specifically target complex systems and help recycle fluid pressure that would otherwise be lost in critical plant processes.
The PX Pressure Exchanger is amongst the most reliable and efficient energy recovery solution for desalination plants, with a 98 per cent efficiency exchange, stated the company.
The order is expected to be shipped to Oman by Q4 2015, added Energy Recovery.
