Oman Wastewater Services has signed contracts for a wastewater network project for US$98mn in Al Amerat province in Muscat
The signed contracts included the establishment of networks to treat water in the northern and eastern regions of Al Amerat.
The project in the northern area will be executed by Consolidated Contractors Company in Oman. Officials from Oman Wastewater Services stated that the northern area project would cost US$42mn. There will also be 6.2 km of wastewater pipes, 70 km of side pipelines, 13.35 km of treated water lines and 230 km of fibre optic channels, authorities added. This phase would be ready by October 2017.
Meanwhile, the project in the eastern area has been assigned to Gulf Petrochemical Services and Trading Company, and costs US$55mn. This phase would include 8.9 km of wastewater pipes, 86.5 km of side pipelines, 9.9 km of treated water lines and 230 km of fibre optic channels, and is expected to be completed by January 2018.
Muscat has six main water catchments, of which Al Amerat is the largest, currently serving more than 58,000 people.
