Abu Dhabi City Municipality has launched a tender for the private sector to invest in a facelift of the citys Corniche beachfront area through the construction of several infrastructure and leisure facilities

As part of the project, titled W10 F&B Plaza, an underground parking structure that can accommodate up to 800 vehicles will be set up, in addition to an above-ground green area containing food and beverage outlets.

A pedestrian underpass will also be constructed to provide access to the beach. The total development will take up 16,000 sq meters and the project has been scheduled for completion by the beginning of 2015.

Abu Dhabi City Municipality investment and asset adviser for the general manager?s office, Rashid Bin Ali Al Omaira, said, ?Our aim is to increase the range and quality of public facilities as part of the government?s long term programme to provide clusters of services and leisure activities along the prestigious Corniche beachfront.

?By reinforcing the Corniche as one of the defining landmarks of the city, visited by more than one million people each year, the W10 F&B Plaza development will provide an exciting opportunity for the private sector to play a vital part in infrastructure improvements that support the Abu Dhabi 2030 vision.?

The municipality said that the project would mark the second expansion to be made to the Corniche beach, and will be considered an enhancement to the current public beach.
