Arabian Construction Company (ACC) has won a US$204mn contract to expand the Masdar Institute of Science & Technology (MIST) campus in Abu Dhabi.
The project is the second phase of construction on MIST and is being managed by Abu Dhabi's Aldar Properties. It is set to be completed in 18 months, and will increase the campus size by 35 per cent.
The expansion will add 82,000sqm to the campus and include student lodgings, laboratories, a conference facility and a gym. It will be located next to the existing campus and will incorporate energy-efficient design.
MIST, which was established in conjunction with the Massachusetts Institute for Science and Technology (MIT), is the first operating component of the Masdar City masterplan.
Completion of the full Masdar City project could be as late as 2025.
