Bahrain has planned to build 25,000 housing units in the next four years

According to housing minister Bassim bin Yaqoob Al Hamar, more than 13 per cent of the work has been done so far and that the housing projects under construction until the end of 2017 will not be affected by the plummeting oil prices.

However, he added that it is difficult to predict the projects to be carried out later, Bahrain News Agency reported.

He also pointed out that the ministry was keen on the private sector?s participation in the construction of the housing units and on the housing bank motivation policies to cater for the growing demand for housing and reduce the waiting period.

He said that the ministry has been successful over the past two years to establish partnership with the private sector which showed readiness to take part in implementing and developing the housing projects.
